more challenges ahead

Tonight I received a note from NaNoWriMo's greatest cheerleader Lindsey Grant, and I wanted to share part of it for those of you looking for another writing challenge outside of November.

Get Frenzied!
During the month of April, scribes from around the world write a 100-page screenplay, stage play, short film, graphic novel, web series, or TV show. And scriptfrenzy.org is the place where they find the inspiration, guidance, and resources from industry insiders and staff to make that scripty magic happen!

Your NaNoWriMo login credentials work over on scriptfrenzy.org, so there’s no need to create a separate account. Simply use your same old site username and password!

Tell your friends! Your neighbors! Your pet chinchilla, Chi Chi. Stop Watching and Start Writing this April. Let’s truck over to the newly revamped website and sign in for this sensational script-a-thon. 30 days. 100 pages. Endless possibilities!

Won’t you be my Camper?
After the Frenzy ends, we’ll be setting our sights on another writing challenge: Camp NaNoWriMo. This pared-down version of National Novel Writing Month provides the 50,000-word goal, progress tracking tools, writerly incentives, and outrageous amounts of inspiration and online support. But this noveling challenge is set in the non-November, online writers retreat of campnanowrimo.org! Back for its second year, Camp NaNo will have two 2012 sessions: June and August.

So mark your calendars and pull out your tent for this wonderfully wordy adventure, with fewer bugs than ever. (Seriously. The website is wearing Deet.) We’ll relaunch campnanowrimo.org on May 1. You’ll be able to hike through the virtual gates, pick your “cabin mates”, and start planning your summer masterpiece (or masterpieces!).

I'm still on the fence about whether or not I will participate in Script Frenzy, but I'm intrigued by Camp NaNoWriMo. I tried both sessions last year (in July and August), but I like the format of having it in June and August with July to breathe. Not positive if I'll participate in any of those, though I'm already planning to do NaNoWriMo 2012, but it's worth a thought. I'm thinking of doing it as a NaNo Rebel, where I log 50,000 words on a project already started. Based on where I am in the writing game, it might be the best bet for me.

So, now that I've had this little rant, I want to know: Will you take on any of these challenges?
